Ive started writing on Substack. See the link to my tappings here

I have been writing online regularly since 2016. When I started my MA in Fine Art I had to write a blog and update it regularly. We had to do this as our MA was remote learning and as the tutors said, they had no idea what we were or weren’t doing bar the evidence we produced via our blogs on a weekly basis. So it was up to us to populate the WordPress blogs that the college set up for us. The MA was over 3 years so I got into the habit of writing. I kept it up post MA as an anchoring mechanism, and it has continued, albeit somewhat more sporadically, till now.

I decided to try substack as it emails out your writings automatically whoever is subscribed to you. Like a newsletter. I had never succeeded in doing this with my blog, and have been trying to up my game in terms marketing and promotion this year, hence substack seemed like it was worth a try.

I started out writing about a dead bird, well the little bird was dead when I first encountered it.

little dead bird that met its end when it flew into our back window.

Then I talked about how debilitating the festive season had been, physically and emotionally. I was trying to balance my own western privilege with feeling shitty.

I realised at this stage I’d given no context really at all about who I was or why I was writing. I added a little in my 3rd writing attempt, talking about performance art and also physicality, in the form of inherited genetic conditions. Fun stuff!

Magnificent length of chain that was arduously researched, ordered and procured. Now laying on my front drive.

I will add links to my writings here when relevant. I will continue to write the real art stuff here, as I use this blog to tease out art and practice problems and am unashamedly personal here in a way that might no to work so well on Substack.
